Lamaze Childbirth Education - Do It Yourself Doula®
Why our course might be for you
I created this class when I was pregnant with my 3rd son. I was already a doula at this point and was discussing the option to hire a doula for our upcoming birth with my partner. She like so many other partners wanted a birth that was intimate and private. The thought of hiring a doula who would essentially be a stranger didn't sit well with her. Despite the fact that I was a doula and had spoken to countless partners about this very same issue didn't matter.
My partner wanted to be surrounded by our friends. I wanted the support of a doula so to compromise with her I came up with a crash doula course for her and our friends.
The course turned into what you see now a course that focused on Childbirth Education and had the added element of teaching our friends how they could support me during the birth.
It was an amazing experience, we were surrounded by our friends and I felt completely supported. It gave me a new perspective on the need for families to have that option but not miss out on a doula experience.
This course does not replace a doula for those of you who wish to have one I highly suggest it. Please check out our doula page for info on how to hire one. It is however a great course to take regardless of if you are hiring a doula or not. If you choose to be surrounded by friends and family however this class is absolutely perfect for you.
I am a Lamaze trained Childbirth Education Teacher and have combined my Certification in Lamaze and My certification as a doula to come up with a Childbirth class that teaches you and your spouse to birth while teaching a third person (friend or family member) to act as your doula.
The Class is located at Dundas and Church and will be held on a weekend with a weekday class coming soon. The class has a maximum of 8 couples in it and their support person.

"I felt like I could support my friend after this course. It was an amazing experience and I can tell my God child that I was there at one of the most important moments of his mom's lives... I was there the moment he took his first breathe."
"Awesome, it was just Awesome I loved having my sister there for our daughter's birth. I wouldn't have had it any other way. She was able to support me and believe that I could do it... when at times I didn't think I could do it myself. My husband loved having family there he didn't want a stranger in the room but is grateful we had someone else there to help him help me!"
